Δημοφιλέστατο Βρετανικό συγκρότημα από τα πιο σημαντικά της rock μουσικής που ιδρύθηκε το 1968 με μέλη τους Jimmy Page (κιθάρα), Robert Plant (τραγούδι), John Paul Jones (μπάσο) και John Bonham (ντραμς).

Εξαιρετικοί μουσικοί όλοι τους, με την δυάδα Robert Plant & Jimmy Page να ξεχωρίζει και να δημιουργεί τα περισσότερα τραγούδια του συγκροτήματος. Στα 10 και πλέον χρόνια που μεσουράνησαν στη παγκόσμια rock σκηνή, κυκλοφόρησαν 9 studio albums, μερικά από τα οποία ιδιαίτερα σημαντικά, με τεράστιες πωλήσεις που τους κατατάσσουν σε ένα από τα 10 εμπορικότερα συγκροτήματα στην ιστορία της rock.

Με εμφανέστατη επιρροή από το Blues αλλά και το Rock 'n' Roll, Θεωρούνται οι πατέρες της Hard Rock αλλά και της Heavy metal που κυριάρχησαν σαν μουσικά είδη τις δεκαετίες '70 & '80

Το αρχικό τους όνομα New Yardbirds, λόγω πνευματικών δικαιωμάτων, αντικαταστάθηκε με το Led Zeppelin με νονό τον Keith Moon, ντράμερ του συγκροτήματος των Who.

Ο θάνατος του John Bonham από υπερβολικό αλκοόλ το 1980 έφερε τη διάλυση του συγκροτήματος
